The preparation and properties of adenylosuccinase and adenylosuccinic acid.

This reaction is analogous to the aspartase reaction and to the enzymic condensation of arginine and fumaric acid (2). In this paper a more detailed characterization of the adenylosuccinase reaction and the product of the reaction, adenylosuccinic acid, is reported. A synthesis of the aglycone of adenylosuccinic acid, 6-succinoaminopurine, from aspartic acid and 6chloropurine, which confirms the structure proposed for adenylosuccinic acid, is described in another paper.’
